Is your Hair Care Routine Damaging Your Hair?

Mostly, people create a routine, and then they stick to it for weeks, months, and sometimes even years. And such is the case when it comes to beauty and hair care routines. Once you figure out something that works for you, you stay accustomed to it and keep on with your methods. On the other side, many habits and customs that we abide by, turn out to be doing more harm than good. So here is a list of the most common mistakes that are causing damage to your hair.

1. EVERYDAY SHAMPOO

Shampooing your hair as refreshing as it is, cleaning excessive oils, odors, and anything that might have accumulated throughout the day. However, it is not meant for everyday use. This is because your hair needs its natural oils to keep the scalp and hair follicles moisturized and healthy. When you strip your hair of such oils it will cause damaged, dry and brittle locks. Therefore you need to change your habits and aim to shampoo only a few times a week.

2. CHOOSING THE WRONG BRUSH

When choosing a hair brush, don't opt for an attractive design, instead choose the right brush for your hair type. For instance, thin hair should go for a soft bristle brush, and curly hair should go for a wide-toothed comb.

3. USING HEAT

If you can’t go without using your blow dryer and straighten iron, you may use them in moderation, however, using them daily is harmful. Therefore try allowing your hair to air dry from time to time, and implement some heatless styles into your routine. And whenever you can't avoid using a heated tool make sure to apply a heat protection product to your hair. Because it does make a big difference in the overall health of your hair.

4. WEARING TIGHT PONYTAILS

Ponytails and buns are the top go-to style for many women, because they are easy, quick, and work for any occasion. However, they are considered one of the main causes of hair damage. Because tight ponytails can lead to hair thinning and hair damage over time. Therefore, it is better to wear a loose braid or a headband to pull your hair back safely.
